I have used this product for many years. It was first recommended by my Vet. My dog was 10 at the time. He lived to be 17 1/2. This product helped him so much and I saw results in about a week or two. About a year ago I fostered a Lab that needed surgery on her right back knee. The surgeon recommended Cosequin DS. When I told him that I was giving it to the dog that I just lost, He told me it was best product of its kind. He explained that the ingredients are absorbed into the body at a much greater percentage than the cheaper pills sold in pet stores. I highly recommend this product and another fact, buying from Amazon.com was way less money than the other pet companies or the Vet. Not just a little less either.

My 12 year old German Shepherd was having so much unmanageable pain, I thought I was going to have to say good-bye. Not so! BPOM Tarik 60 Obat Tradisional Berbahan Kimia

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan (BPOM) telah menarik 60 merek obat tradisional dan supleman dari peredaran karena ditemukan mengandung bahan kimia yang jika digunakan tanpa petunjuk dokter bisa membahayakan kesehatan.

“Berdasarkan hasil pengawasan, sampling dan pengujian laboratorium sejak Juni 2008 hingga Mei 2009, Badan POM telah menarik peredaran 60 item obat tradisional dan suplemen yang mengandung bahan kimia sibutramin hidroklorida, sildenafil sitrat, online pharmacy, deksametason, fenilbutason, asam mefenamat, metamfiron dan parasetamol,” kata Kepala BPOM Husniah Rubiana Thamrin Akib di Jakarta, Kamis.

Penggunaan bahan-bahan kimia obat tersebut secara tidak tepat, kata dia, dapat menimbulkan gangguan kesehatan tingkat ringan hingga gangguan kesehatan yang dapat mengakibatkan kematian.

Gangguan kesehatan yang dimaksud antara lain sakit kepala, nyeri dada, dan lambung, tukak lambung, diare, gangguan ginjal, gangguan penglihatan, glaukoma, tulang keropos, infark miokard, gangguan jantung, gangguan pembentukan sel darah (anemia aplastik dan agranulositosis), dan kerusakan hati.

Husniah mengatakan, selain telah memerintahkan penarikan dan pemusnahan produk obat tradisional produksi lokal dan Cina itu, pihaknya juga akan memproses secara hukum (proyustisia) produsen dan importir produk yang bersangkutan.

“Sehubungan dengan itu, kami juga menyerukan kepada masyarakat agar tidak membeli atau mengonsumsi obat tradisional dan suplemen makanan yang mengandung obat tradisional tersebut,” katanya serta menambahkan produk-produk itu sebagian besar tidak terdaftar di BPOM atau telah dibatalkan izin edarnya.

Ia juga mengimbau masyarakat yang tidak yakin dengan keamanan suatu obat tradisional menanyakan informasi mengenai produk yang dimaksud ke Unit Layanan Pengaduan Konsumen BPOM melalui telepon ke nomor 021-4263333/32199000 atau surat elektronik ke ulpk@pom.go.id.

“Karena mungkin sulit membedakan produk yang aman dan tidak aman sebab nomor registrasi BPOM juga ada yang memalsukan. Kami cuma bisa kasih tahu, kalau gambar dan namanya aneh-aneh, klaim khasiatnya berlebihan, mungkin tidak aman karena kami tidak akan menerima registrasinya,” kata Husniah.

After reading articles for this week, I came to a conclusion that is very traditional yet important to highlight--I argue that online content is the future of newspaper business. Like what Patterson said, "Just play the news better online." This may not have been the solution yet, but I see the future more on (a) content itself and (b) the way the news is served online.

First, find what your newspaper is good at--international, national, or local news--and differentiate your product (content). I think this part was explained very well during Dallas Morning News publisher Jim Moroney's talk last week (http://knightcenter.utexas.edu/blog/dallas-morning-news-publisher-defends-implementation-paywall).

Second, attract your online visitors with new online features (the way the news is served) to keep them around for longer time, which would increase the possibility to increase online ad revenue. The millennials are the ones who take technology as a given, and when the industry is serving ones like them, I think it has to attract their audience with what "papers" cannot offer: Make news reading (or watching) more enjoyable with interactive features.

I see a lot going on with Apps these days. If we are expecting 330 million smartphones and 42 million order cialis to be sold worldwide, make news more enjoyable there. Another area the industry needs to look into is what they are offering through browsers. As an online news reader, I'd be spending more time on news sites if I see more "exclusive content" in both the content itself and the features (visuals, interactiveness, etc.) used to deliver the content, which is something news aggregators like Google or Yahoo cannot offer. Although it is getting better from simple "copy and paste"s from its paper version, I would enjoy their content even more if they offer better ways to deliver its content, which is something I cannot find from reading physical newspapers.

Of course, there is a lot to say about whether or not users will pay for news. And recent research tends to say: "Mobile users dig local news apps, but most won't pay for them" (e.g., http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2011/03/mobile-users-wont-pay-news/). Furthermore, this week's readings discuss about what newspapers gain/lose from online vs. offline as well. However, the bottom line is: where there is need, and if that need is not satisfied by things that are offered anywhere else, there's a possibility. Am I too optimistic?

Leadership in Academic Medicine

Over the many years that I have been involved in academic order cialis, I have held a variety of leadership positions involving 3 coronary care units, a division of cardiovascular cialis, and a department of medicine. During this time period, a number of colleagues have asked me for my thoughts on the qualities that foster excellence in leadership. This editorial is a short summary of the advice that I gave at that time.1

There are as many styles of leadership as there are leaders. Some leaders prefer the “top-down” style of leadership involving strict hierarchical and authoritarian control. This style of leadership was common in the past but is rapidly fading away. Today, most leaders espouse a more democratic, inclusive style. I, too, favor this leadership style, which usually involves an executive committee that shares decision-making power with the head of the department.

I also prefer the “General Patton” style of leadership. This form of leadership involves the head of the enterprise in the day-to-day, hands-on running of the unit. In a clinical enterprise, this means that the leader shares in the daily clinical workload. The advantage of this style is that the leader is visible, approachable, and intimately involved in the daily running of the enterprise.
